Hey Cupid! Lit Up Arrow: DIY

I made this arrow especially for our Valentine’s Day Mantel.  And I LOVE IT! She may just make her way into my craft studio once the season of love departs.

The low- down:

Once cut out and sanded, I gave her a good slathering of Ruby Red interior house paint, which I had on hand.  (A few accent walls in my kitchen were once painted this color.)  It is a most lovely shade of red.

At this point it looked… OK.  But I could see all of the striations in the OSB.  It looked like an arrow cut out of OSB.  That’s not what I was going for.  I was looking for CUPID’S ARROW!

Brainstorm, brainstorm, brainstorm…

Of course!  What this lady needed was some flash!  Sparkle! Something thick to cover the OSB.

So I headed to Michael’s to purchase the only item that I did not have on hand, red glitter.  So again with the slathering on, but this time I coated her good with Mod Podge.  And then I dumped a generous amount of red glitter all over her.

And does she ever shine and sparkle!  Look out Cupid,  I have your arrow!

Lizzie says it makes our house look like the people that live here like to have fun.  I’m down with that.

What is the most whimsical holiday decor you have ever created?

Enjoy!

Jay
