Community

In pursuing these projects; I hope to grow.     In sharing them; I hope to inspire.

Building a sense of community is perhaps one of the most important projects one can undertake.

I remember  how loved and supported we felt during the two years of building our home.  We were brand spankin’ new to this area, and yet folks who heard about our project came together to encourage us and swing hammers right along with us.

A horribly grainy shot from the frame raising.  It was a cold and rainy April weekend.

Folks opened their homes to us during the coldest months (we were RV living back then).   And there was a never-ending supply of dinner invitations and late-into-the-night work parties.  I remember feeling so loved.

I have attempted to share that same love with those around us; friends, family and strangers to boot.   Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail.

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a catalyst for spreading the love.  It’s one of the reasons I blog under a pseudonym.  I want to act boldly, without thought for who is reading (or who is judging).  I want to build a strong sense of community for my children and for myself.  I want to challenge myself to give more.

I am conscious of those who may view a post about philanthropy as show-boating.  You know, “who does she think she is?”.   Well honey, the truth of the matter is that I am just like you.

I am a mother.  I am a wife.  I have a job.  And I want to do good in this world.

Please email me with any community building projects that you are undertaking or have completed.  I would really like to share them.
